Images and Accessibility
-
Avoid text in images. Screen readers can’t read it. Flyers, posters, or other print-style graphics should not be posted on websites.
-
Infographics are okay, but include detailed alt text and also provide the same information in regular text on the page.
-
Decorative vs. Informational images:
-
Decorative = only for visual appeal (like headers or backgrounds).
-
Informational = adds important content (like a faculty photo).
-
-
The same image can be decorative or informational, depending on how it’s used.
